Monday 25 April: Trowbridge Girls vs Westbury U11s: away win

Westbury U11's do double over local rivals with a 34-run victory. The U11s left Westbury in the pouring rain, expecting the weather to beat us again. It was dark, cold and gloomy at the county ground but the rain held off! Well done to our U11's who won again, tonight against Trowbridge girls in the BDYCL. A great opening partnership from Casper and Gibril set the boys on their way to a good total of 92-3 from their 16 overs. A very tidy and organised fielding display restricted Trowbridge to 68-5 with some very good tight bowling from all. Paul Gainey, Westbury youth coordinator, said this was "brilliant, as many of them haven't played or practiced much because of the weather".

Sunday 24 April: Westbury vs Beckington: home win

Westbury entertained Beckington on Sunday, 24 April 2016, looking to make it back to back wins. After winning the toss Westbury decided to field first and got there reward early when Rich Oakley clean bowled Beckington's opener for 5. Westbury should of had a second straight after from James Hudson's bowling but the chance was spilled and so it was left to a change of bowling instead to make the best breakthrough. Dan "April" Gill bowling 4 overs for 10 runs, claimed 3 wickets, ably supported by Joe Willis, who bowled a brilliant 4 overs for 12 runs. This brought Beckington's Harfield brothers to the crease and they put on a good 72 run partnership but it was finally broken when Captain Simon Higgins bowled Greg Harfield for 37. Soon after Oakley claimed his second wicket and Luke "Harry" Dilena also picking up a wicket as Westbury managed to keep Beckington to a competitive 174/9 off their 40 overs in the early season. After another fantastic tea, Dan Gill and Osmond Shallow took to the crease as Westbury openers. Gill, however, was back soon after scoring 8. Dave Aspray, in at 3, managed 5 before being caught at point. Dan House managed 10 before Oakley came to the crease with Shallow well set. In a brilliant partnership, and continuing Oakley's fine form with bat and ball after the prior week, they both passed 50. Two quick wickets caused a few worries as Shallow fell for 66 and then Mike Wainwright was out for 5. But Oakley with Michael Tuck finished the game off in style. Tuck hitting the Beckington bowler over the clubhouse for 6 with 3.2 overs left. Westbury face Corsham away next Sunday what is always a very tough game. If anyone is interested in playing please contact Simon Higgins
